Surgery without Craniotomy?

Hi,

This is my first post here. I had my appointment with Dr. Ciricilio in Sacramento last week. He said the surgery would involve a laminectomy and scoring of the dura. I’m a little concerned because everything I’ve read implies that the craniotomy is what relieves much of the pressure. Has anyone else had the surgery without a craniotomy? I’m anxious to have the surgery and get my life back but I’m feeling a bit uncomfortable.

Hello,

I just had my 3rd appt today with a NS, and surgery is now indicated for me as well. This surgeon, along with the other that I first consulted with both said craniotomy. I would give your NS’s office a call and just simply ask them about this. The whole surgery itself is called a posterior fossa decompression surgery.
