Megan's mom,
I'm not sure if they're more prone to get it or not. It's weird. I didn't know people still got Scarlet Fever. Alexis was as sick as she was when she was in the ICU! Only it was at home and lasted from may 13th (Friday the 13th) of all things until the first week of July. They told me she also had a skin disorder called dishydrosis. I don't know about that. I was having problems with diagnosis and dr.'s. After her surgery in mArch she started to get a sore throat in April. But no positive strep test until may! They said that when people end up with scarlet fever they'll test positive for strep first. She also had a liver problem that was never diagnosed but eventually improved!

Julie

My daughter had her surgery 2 weeks ago, but when she was 5 she too got scarlet fever I am wondering if children that have Chiari are more prone to getting scarlet fever. I rarely hear of anyone getting scarlet fever.

Thank you! It's been a long road. Since the surgery, Alexis has been diagnosed with hemihyperplasia and ehlers danlos syndrome. Some Day she still may have to have back surgery. And will most likely have surgery on one of her legs. 8 weeks after her surgery in this she got scarlet fever so bad. She was sick until July. Her dr.'s have told us that the syrinx will be there forever and it will not shrink any more than it has. The syringomyelia is devastating! Prayers to you all! God bless! Julie and Alexis :)

What an inspiration she is!  I will keep her in my mind and remember how brave she was when its my turn.....I am having a difficult time with all of this.  I hope she continues to do well.  What a beautiful girl!!!!

My 5 year old has decompression surgery next monday.  I seen this and cried my eyes out and then was amazed at her recovery!  THank you for the video.  I have to clean my contacts, but it was much needed.
