Nervous for my First Neurosurgeon Appointment!

Tommorow is my first appointment with the neurosurgeon. Im nervous. Im trying to be very optimistic about it but i cant help but have feelings that this doctor will be just another doctor to push me aside. I have my aunt coming with me for a second "pair of ears". She has helped me soo much with research, more than my parents and thats pretty much why i have chosen her to come with me. Considering this is the first neuroSURGEON  appointment, Is there anything I should expect? I know all doctors are different but are there specific questions I should definiltey ask? I want to get as much information as possible. I know that im not just gunna walk in there and he's gunna say" Ill do the surgery next week".  I know tihs is going to be a process. Is there any special type of tests that he "SHOULD" run on me? I really hope this isnt a 10min appointment. Ahh im sooo nervous and all over the place. If any one has any suggestions, please, please help me. I will let you know how everything goes. <3 kris

If your MRI is 10-11, you are not borderline Chiari!  Your doctor sounds like a very wise doctor, not wanting to rush into anything and testing you.  The CINE MRI is a great test they do to find out how much of your Spinal fluid is being blocked from reaching your brain.  I am so so thankful he is testing you first.  This should tell you a lot and so glad to know you have trust and confidence in him.  Go prepared with your questions, symptom list, and as much knowledge you can.  Ask folks here and do your homework.  God Bless you Kristin, know we are here for you.  Take care of yourself and please keep us informed.  Abby

Hey guys. The neurosuregon appointment went ok. I talked to the doctor for about an hour and he changed my diagnois to Boarderline Chiari. Im very confused .My first MRI in 2009 shows 5mm. The most recent for 12/21/2010 shows 10-11mm. He does beileve it is causing my headached but not my other sympthoms. That is what every other doctor has said and then dropped my case. But this doctor was different, he is continuing to see me untill he finds an answer. That is what makes me beileve he is a good doctor. He has requested i get a CINE MRI. Im in the proceess of getting authroization for it then im on my way. I was very upset last night because i get overwelhmed and frustrated everytime i talk about lately. Im soo used to hitting dead end but i know now that if i stop fighting, there will not be a good outcome. I need to fight for my health. Im 22 years old and feel like im 50. That is not normal and i just want my life back, as close to a 22YR OLDS LIFE SHOULD BE!!!! thank you guys for thinking of me<3
