Chiari Malformation - Online Support Group

We are patients and survivors of Chiari (types I-IV), here for your support.

I have been listening to a lot of music lately.  Some has been encouraging me.  Some has been depressing me.

I thought it would be interesting to create a thread for everyone to post a YouTube video of what you have been listening to lately.  What has been getting you by?

As far as I'm concerned, anything goes.  Speaking for myself, I'm open to anything.  It doesn't necessarily have to be that "ray of sunshine" that gets you through the day.  If it's the song that you cry to, share it.  We all need a good cry every now and then.

This is therapy.  Take advantage of it.

This is what I have been listening to today..  All Johnny Cash :) Love him!

HUGE fan of Mr. Cash.  The wife and I are a couple of hippie/punks.  Our three year old daughter is named Lennon.  We're currently trying for a second one.  The current line of thinking is that if it's a boy, he'll be Harrison Cash.

Elton John is one of my idols.  The lyrics of 'Rocket Man' were intended to reflect the chaos of the entertainment industry and drug addiction.  I heard a cover of the song from a band called Puscifer. (It's a project from the singer of Tool.)  It comes from an album called 'The Heart is a Drum Machine'.  The beat of the song is split between a heart monitor and a heartbeat.  With it sung in a minor key, it took on a new meaning to me.  It makes me think about pain, about where my head is when I'm on painkillers, and how mentally I'm just not here anymore.

I like it!   I like the Names too.  I say flip it - Cash Harrison :)  Sounds Powerful!!  back 17 yrs ago when we had our daughter if she was a boy, her name was going to be Ian Layne - Ian Ashbury (The Cult) Layne Staley (Alice in Chains)  - but I think I like him better with Mad Season)

Wow.  I'm feeling old now.  Did you know that 'Nevermind' hit triple platinum 20 years ago today.  Ugh.

I remember the night that Layne died.  I had a DJ gig.  It was a Monday night.  Spent the first half hour playing Mad Season and Alice in Chains Unplugged.  Cried like a baby.

For the last couple of weeks, this has been the song that has motivated me to get going in the mornings.  The tone of the song.  The lyrics.  Her voice.  They all seem to light a fire within me.

"And I'm damned if I do and I'm damned if I don't
So here's to drinks in the dark at the end of my road
And I'm ready to suffer and I'm ready to hope
It's a shot in the dark and right at my throat
Cause looking for heaven, for the devil in me
Looking for heaven, for the devil in me
Well what the hell I'm gonna let it happen to me"

Keith Anderson- Somedbody needs a hug, == while sometimes i sure feel like i could use one, this song just sounds fun too...   Hope you guys ENJOY!!

Have a couple of tunes today.

I was writing an article for my website.  It marked the 1,000th post for my blog.  With everything going on lately, I've neglected my site.  It was the first post in 6 weeks.  I used to post roughly a dozen articles a day.  I was lying in bed.  My wife was cleaning up in the bedroom.  And, as I was writing about how I was having a difficult time getting motivated lately, this song came on Pandora.  I had never thought of it along the lines of what I'm going through right now.

Also heard this one a couple of days ago and had to chuckle.  Have always been a fan of Green Day, but this song in particular is describing my symptoms to a tee a the moment.

Hey Twitch......

GREAT TOPIC!!!!!!! THANKS!

Love your boys name!!!!

I am not good at cutting and pasting or whatever the heck it is called so i will just tell you what artists/songs i like and helps me (at time)...truth be told....somedays....not much soothes my body or soul.

I listen to Van Morrison a lot....."full Force Gale" I find so uplifting...along with many of his others.

Gloria Estaphan.."Coming Out of The Dark"...awesome.

My husband is a musician for passion..not a profession and he is involved with this site called....KOMPOZ....folks from all over collaberate music...it is pretty cool.

For me, when my eyes are co-operating ..I like to read...I also knit...just for mindless relaxation...I only know one stitch and can only make 2 things!!! But it is my therapy....I zone out while doing it.

Another thing I do to zone out and try to keep my mind busy and off myself is color with colored pencils...The one I have now is called...."HIDDEN TRANSFORMATIONS".....it is detailed and not like a kids coloring book..if that makes sense??

Oh..another song that I love is by Keith Urban.."Gods Been Good To Me"....I really am not a country music gal...but Keith is great, in my book!!

Sorry guys for my rambings!!!!

You folks are the best, ya know that?????

Peace,

Lori

I don't know why but today my day has been this type of dayhttp://youtu.be/j5-yKhDd64s?hd=1
